How many people use a cheating device such as Gameshark or Action Replay to get those hard to catch Pokemon?
Personally, I wanted to "catch them all" and take the time to do it. It's much more fun completing the Pokedex without the help of cheat devices. In my opinion, it gets rid of the challenging element of it, taking away all the fun. Now that being said, I still use Action Replay ONLY for levelling up my Pokemon and obtaining the Event/Impossible Pokemon, such as Celebi or Mew.
Which of the two choices do you prefer?

I only use cheats for hard-to-catch legendary Pokemon.

Bad, cheating is usually bad, and you can complete the pokedex ww/o the legendaries from events, just that it takes longer. The only hack I ever used was to speed walking up in the original

I vote hard work, but I am guilty of abusing save states to rig the RNG on the Poke Balls on my Emerald and Crystal ROMs, as well as the card flipping in my Crystal ROMs. It nearly put me to sleep. That being said, I'll never use a GameShark. EVER.

I use Action Roleplay. When you battle a person and you lose to them you'll learn from it. Like which pokemon was the best to use? Which powers the pokemon uses that is most effective? Usually I just level up my pokemon and battle the person again only with the pokemon that is more effective to that person's pokemon.

Nyah, I hate cheating devices. I only used Action Replay once, and it destroyed my Pearl version. We shall abolish that thing XD
